The JoyArena Overseas project began when an international family entertainment operator contacted us to upgrade their aging indoor play zone in a major shopping mall in Southeast Asia. Their venue had once been a top destination but had gradually lost its appeal due to outdated equipment, safety concerns, and increasing competition.

The client requested a comprehensive redesign covering four key product categories—Playground, Sports & Activity Games, Redemption & Prize Games, and Arcade Video Games. Their goal was to create a modern, high-capacity entertainment hub that could compete with premium amusement brands while remaining safe, visually appealing, and operationally efficient.

Client Pain-Points

Before the JoyArena Overseas renovation, the customer struggled with:

Declining visitor traffic caused by outdated playground structures.

Inefficient space usage, leaving dead zones unproductive.

Safety non-compliance in certain older soft-play and climbing structures.

High maintenance downtime on their sports & activity equipment.

Lack of thematic identity, causing the venue to blend into the mall background.

They needed a partner capable of delivering not only equipment, but also a full-scope solution—design, engineering, safety compliance, installation, training, and after-service.

Implementation Challenges

During the initial planning phase of JoyArena Overseas, we identified several critical obstacles:

1. Limited Ceiling Height

The mall provided a ceiling height of only 3.8 meters, significantly restricting the vertical play structures typical of large playgrounds.

2. Strict Safety Regulations

Local safety inspectors required European EN1176-equivalent compliance, increasing design complexity.

3. Electrical and HVAC Restrictions

The mall had outdated electrical wiring and limited ventilation infrastructure, especially in the arcade and prize game zone.

4. Very Tight Renovation Window

The mall required the venue to reopen within 28 days—half of the usual installation time for a project of this size.

5. Mixed-Age Audience Requirements

The venue needed to cater to toddlers, children, teens, and adults simultaneously.

These challenges required innovative solutions, making the JoyArena Overseas project an ideal showcase of our engineering and customization capabilities.

Breakthrough Solutions

Solution 1 — Low-Profile Playground Architecture

Our design team engineered multi-level play modules that fit safely under the restricted ceiling height while maintaining high play value. We used:

compressed climbing towers

angled ramps in place of steep slides

soft-play ring structures

360° safety padding

This allowed the JoyArena Overseas playground to maintain a premium, adventurous feel without violating height limitations.

Solution 2 — Multi-Zone Activity Flow Strategy

To eliminate dead zones and improve crowd circulation, we divided the facility into four interconnected zones:

Toddler soft-play village

Kids climbing & adventure zone

Sports & Activity Games corner (basketball, air hockey, dance challenge)

Hybrid arcade & redemption prize area

This structure maximized play time and encouraged movement across the entire facility.

Solution 3 — Electrical Redesign & Energy Optimization

Our technical team installed:

low-energy LED lighting

customized arcade transformer banks

reinforced wiring harnesses

ventilation boosters

This reduced electricity consumption and prevented overheating in the arcade zone.

Solution 4 — Accelerated Installation System

To meet the 28-day deadline, we pre-assembled 63% of the playground modules off-site. The on-site installation phase was completed in only 21 days.
